Jeff, I hadn't planned to read a story like this with my first cup of coffee. But it is a piece that makes one realize how precious life is and how easily it can be taken away. Joe could have been any one of us and I like that you pulled in the scenes from Shenandoah as a comparison to his needless death. Great writing, Cuz.
